If you are considering law school, or even “starting to consider” considering it, we highly recommend you set up an appointment with a Pre-Law Advisor as soon as possible. Your Pre-Law Advisor can help you better understand both our Accelerated Law Program and your future legal career options. They can also help you select specific undergraduate coursework to prepare you for both law school and the LSAT. Your advisor will also help you stay on top of law school applications dates and LSAT preparation courses.

Dr. James Houlihan


Your Pre-Law Advisor at Lewis University will be Dr. James Houlihan, a professor in Lewis’ Criminal/Social Justice program for more than 20 years. Prior to Lewis, Houlihan served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and a Special Agent for the U.S. Treasury Department – conducting criminal investigations of bribery, extortion, tax fraud and embezzlement.

Dr. Houlihan loves helping his students succeed. He goes above and beyond when coordinating student internships, using his vast legal network to arrange prestigious off-campus opportunities. And he is dedicated to helping you succeed through the rigorous and demanding trials of law school and find your future home in the legal world. Houlihan is also in charge of the University’s Pre-Law Club and coach and moderator of Lewis’ award-winning Mock Trial Team.
